I would also like to add that games can be powerful for learning, for example in developing epistemic frames. Also, there is potentially a “subversive” element (like a hidden curriculum) that players subconsciously pick up while playing games. This can be used for good (e.g. games that teach care for the environment or for animals) or for evil (e.g. games that promote violence). Hopefully educational game designers can leverage this for good and the betterment of society.
